Vampyre Cosmetics LLC became insolvent in 2024 due to theft by a former owner and the malicious lawsuit filed against it by the same individual in retaliation for the remaining owners' attempts to hold them legally accountable.
Due to the ongoing lawsuit, We are not able to issue refunds at this time for any orders or pre-orders regardless of return or shipping status.
The next hearing was scheduled for January 23rd, 2025 and has now been moved to March 3rd, 2025. We apologize sincerely for discrepancies in communication surrounding this and any refunds requested in 2024 for pre-orders. We were initially advised that the lawsuit and appraisal process would be completed by September or October at the latest. This is no longer the case and we are doing our best to update anyone who has requested a refund at this time. Customers are welcome to seek other avenues for refunds, including disputes with their financial institutions. If you file a dispute with paypal, we are unable to respond but after the requisite amount of time you will be refunded. You can also do this by contacting Paypal support even if the time for a dispute has passed. If you reach out to cat@vampyrecosmetics.com, we will assist you by providing any documentation needed to prove that your order has been canceled and that Vampyre Cosmetics is closed and unable to issue refunds.
Rachel Clinesmith, as the former CEO of Vampyre Cosmetics LLC will continue to fight in court for as long as possible for the right to be able to refund customers and fulfill any outstanding pre-orders as soon as possible. If you want to learn how you can get involved or help us in this endeavor please email rachel@vampyrecosmetics.com or subscribe to email updates on our home page.
Rachel initially brought on additional partners in 2022 with plans to scale the business without having to fund new launches via pre-orders and then returned to a pre-order model to gauge interest and fund new launches in mid-2023. We successfully launched our first SILENT HILL makeup collection that we funded via pre-orders as well as our Oregon Trail, Space Invaders, Bill & Ted, Living Dead Doll, Winchester Mystery House, Amy Brown, Vincent Price & Emily The Strange Collections.
Before we were forced to shut down Vampyre Cosmetics and put everything else on Pause: We gained Significant Traction without traditional VP backing. We accomplished a lot with limited resources. We secured Licensing partnerships with major companies including Disney, Sony & Hasbro. We worked with Conde Nast to promote our Dungeons & Dragons collab on Teen Vogue's channels and were invited to present at Teen Vogue Summit (even though we couldn't afford to accept). We were Scouted by Shark Tank casting agents and invited to Walmart Open Call. We worked with an amazing team that handled our retail support and training with over 23 years of experience on both the buyer and brand side as well as a women owned and run 3plg (that only ships cosmetics) that handled all of our shipping until October 2024. We leveraged these partnerships to market affordably DTC through Paid Media with lean remote only operations and low CACs with high LTV. The only thing that stopped us from reaching our goals of changing the beauty brands landscape is this lawsuit and a bad partnership. This is something many businesses have been through and some have been able to bounce back from.
Rachel was invited to mentor under Sophia Amaruso & Daymond John. The former fell through when Sophia cancelled the 2nd cohort of her Fly Private Mastermind and the latter didn't come to fruition due to lack of funds following the lawsuit despite making it into the only 15 companies accepted for the 1st & 2nd CEO Day with Daymond John in Miami. We are confident that we can make it through this and determined to fix things for our customers as soon as possible. Rachel's first cosmetics company was Belladonna’s Cupboard or Belladonna’s Cosmetics and when it shut down due to manufacturing and other issues, she chose to personally continue offering refunds and replacing products that didn’t get shipped out until June 1st, 2023 over 4 years after closing down. "I couldn’t live with myself If I didn’t take it upon myself to make sure that all of our customers were taken care of, so I did that out of my own pocket even though it took me a little while and I wasn’t able to start sending out refunds and products until 2020 during the pandemic. I took the lessons I learned from that first handmade business and used them to build Vampyre Cosmetics into a better company. I believe that we can do the same thing again but we need your help."
